Keeping It Real: Memories, Grace, and a New Beginning
π Keeping It Real: Memories, Grace, and a New Beginning
Memories are a part of life.
Some memories make us smile. They remind us of laughter, family, friendships, and the blessings God has given us. Those are memories we treasure.
But there are also memories that hurt. Memories of loss, mistakes, grief, rejection, and things we wish had never happened. Sometimes those memories seem to come out of nowhere and remind us of seasons we would rather forget.
The beautiful thing about being a follower of Jesus is that although we may remember our past, God does not hold it against us when we come to Him in repentance and place our faith in Christ.
When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, He forgives our sins, washes us clean, and gives us a brand-new beginning.
The Bible says:
π 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
I love that verse because it reminds me that my past does not define my future. My mistakes do not define who I am. My identity is found in Christ.
The Bible also tells us:
π Isaiah 43:25 "I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for My own sake, and remembers your sins no more."
Think about that for a minute.
The God who knows everything chooses not to hold our forgiven sins against us. What amazing grace!
Another verse that has always encouraged me is:
π Psalm 103:12 "As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us."
That means our sins are completely forgiven through Jesus. They are not hanging over our heads waiting to be brought up again.
Now, that does not mean we will never remember painful things that have happened in our lives. There are memories that stay with us, especially after losing someone we love or walking through difficult seasons. But those memories no longer have to control us.
Instead of allowing our past to keep us in bondage, we can allow God to use it as a testimony of His faithfulness.
Your story may include grief.
It may include illness.
It may include rejection.
It may include failure.
But if Jesus is writing your story, your past is not the final chapter.
God is still healing.
God is still restoring.
God is still making all things new.
So today, if your past keeps trying to remind you of who you were, remind it of who Jesus says you are.
You are forgiven.
You are loved.
You are redeemed.
You are a child of God.
Walk forward in faith, not looking back with regret but looking ahead with hope, knowing that God has wonderful plans for your life.
π Philippians 3:13-14 *"Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in
