πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Ready for the 4th of July in less than 10 minutes! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ✨ One of the things I love most about my Kleo Kolor press-on gel nails is how quickly I can change my look. I put these patriotic nails on right before heading to work, and now I'm all set to celebrate Independence Day! ❤️πŸ€πŸ’™ The application is fast, easy, and gives me a salon-quality look without spending hours at the nail salon.  As a woman of faith, I'm thankful for the freedoms we enjoy and for the greatest freedom of all—found in Christ. "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free." – Galatians 5:1 πŸ™ If you're looking for a quick and beautiful manicure, I'd love for you to shop my store: ✨ https://KleoKolor.com/vickiewalters

Keeping It Real – One Day at a Time

Image
πŸ’™ Keeping It Real – One Day at a Time πŸ’™ Hi everyone, Today has been a rough day when it comes to blood sugar readings. I thought I had extra supplies with me, but guess what? I didn't. Things happen, and I am not going to put myself down over it. There was a time when I probably would have been frustrated with myself all day, but I am learning to give myself grace. After dealing with high blood sugars most of the day, I finally got home and discovered the problem. My insulin pump site had come off, which meant I was not getting the insulin I needed. As soon as I changed it, my blood sugars started coming back down. Praise God! πŸ™Œ I am feeling so much better now. Even after working until 11:30 last night at my new weekend job, God has given me the strength to keep going. I may be tired, but I am thankful. Sometimes living with Type 1 Diabetes means being a detective and figuring out why numbers are doing what they're doing. Some days are easier than others, but every day is a ...

Keeping It Real: The Power of Our Words and Thoughts

Image
πŸ’œ Keeping It Real: The Power of Our Words and Thoughts With today being Sunday, let's talk about faith. But more specifically, let's talk about our words and our thoughts. The Bible has a lot to say about both. One of the verses many of us have heard is: πŸ“– Proverbs 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Think about that for a minute. The Bible says our words carry power. They can build up or tear down, encourage or discourage, bring healing or bring hurt. Sometimes we say things about ourselves without even thinking about it. "I'm never going to get better." "I can't do this." "I'm not good enough." "Nothing ever works out for me." At first, they may seem like harmless words spoken out of frustration, but if we keep speaking them long enough, we start believing them. That is why we have to be careful about what comes out of our mouths. I once heard it expla...

Keeping It Real: Hypothyroidism

Image
πŸ’œ Keeping It Real: Hypothyroidism Many of you know that I talk a lot about Type 1 Diabetes, but today I want to spend some time talking about another condition that affects millions of people: Hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism happens when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormones. Even though the thyroid is a small gland in the neck, it plays a huge role in how our bodies function every day. It helps regulate metabolism, energy levels, body temperature, heart rate, and much more. When the thyroid slows down, it can affect almost every area of life. Some common symptoms include: πŸ’œ Fatigue and exhaustion πŸ’œ Weight gain πŸ’œ Brain fog and difficulty concentrating πŸ’œ Dry skin and hair πŸ’œ Depression or mood changes πŸ’œ Sensitivity to cold temperatures πŸ’œ Muscle aches and joint pain πŸ’œ Slower heart rate πŸ’œ Constipation πŸ’œ Memory problems What many people do not realize is that hypothyroidism is often caused by an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, where the ...

Keeping It Real: Hypothyroidism, Summer Heat, and Faith

Image
πŸ’™  Wow, this month has started out really busy! We started summer camp at school, I started a new weekend job, and I am still working on building my two online businesses as well. Then when you add Type 1 Diabetes, hypothyroidism, and a few other health issues into the mix, you can imagine life has been a whirlwind lately! 😊 As many of you know, I have spent a lot of time talking about Type 1 Diabetes because it is a huge part of my daily life. But today I want to talk about another condition that affects millions of people and often goes unnoticed—hypothyroidism. People simply do not talk about it enough, and I want to help change that. The thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland in your neck, but it has a very big job. It helps control your metabolism, energy levels, body temperature, heart rate, digestion, and many other functions throughout the body. When you have hypothyroidism, your thyroid does not produce enough hormones, causing many systems in your body to slow ...

Keeping It Real: Wisdom, Faith, and Living With Chronic Illness

Image
πŸ’™ Keeping It Real: Wisdom, Faith, and Living With Chronic Illness πŸ’™ As we continue this journey of keeping it real, I want to add a Biblical twist to today's post and talk about something we all need more of—wisdom. The Bible has a lot to say about wisdom, and when you live with Type 1 Diabetes, hypothyroidism, or any other health condition, wisdom becomes a very important part of everyday life. Every day I have to make decisions about what I eat, when I eat, how much insulin I need, how much activity I can do, when I need to rest, and when I need to push through. Some days are easier than others, and some days it feels like I am constantly making adjustments. That is why I do not just rely on my own understanding—I seek God's wisdom too. The Bible tells us in James 1:5: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." What a blessing that is! We do not have to figure everything out on...

Keeping It Real – God Is Moving

Image
πŸ’™ Keeping It Real – God Is Moving! πŸ’™ The last two days have been great when it comes to my blood sugars, and I am so thankful for that. Praise God! πŸ™ Of course, life with Type 1 Diabetes always seems to keep us on our toes. Last night it was time to change my Dexcom G7 sensor because my 10 days were up. I got everything ready, cleaned my arm, applied the new sensor, and waited for it to start. Well... it failed. 😞 The sensor gave me a "failed sensor" message, which is never fun to see. Thankfully, I was able to get online with Dexcom, and they are sending me a replacement. Until it arrives, I am back to doing finger sticks to check my blood sugar. Now, after living with Type 1 Diabetes for many years, I can honestly say this is not the first time I've had to go back to finger sticks, and it probably won't be the last. It's just part of the journey sometimes. Technology is wonderful when it works, but it is always good to remember the basics and know how to ma...
