What the Bible Says to Do When WE Get Caught in Our Own Thoughts
π What the Bible Says to Do When We Get Caught in Our Own Thoughts
I have and still go through each and every one of these steps each day. Each one of these is the best way to put every thought under the subjection of Jesus and let Him have His way in our minds which will lead to a better day, each and every day. I hope and pray that these posts I am doing and have done will reach the right people at the right time. Remember you are never alone in your walk with Jesus, God has the right people in your life for each step you need them, but the best part is Jesus is always there 24/7, 365 days, every second of every day. We just have to keep our thoughts on Him and what He is saying for us to do.
1. Bring Every Thought Captive
When your mind starts running away with fear, doubt, or worry:
“We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
— 2 Corinthians 10:5
God tells us to grab hold of the thought and measure it against His truth.
2. Fix Your Mind on the Right Things
Instead of letting your thoughts control you, the Bible says to re-center your mind:
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
— Colossians 3:2
“Whatever is true… noble… right… pure… lovely… think about such things.”
— Philippians 4:8
This is God’s “reset button” for a troubled mind.
3. Cast Every Worry on Him
God does not ask you to carry the weight of your thoughts:
“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:7
This means taking the worry out of your hands and placing it into His.
4. Trust the Lord Instead of Your Own Understanding
When your mind is trying to figure everything out:
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6
God is saying: Stop depending on your own thoughts. Depend on Me.
5. Pray Instead of Worrying
When anxious or overwhelmed:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication… present your requests to God.”
— Philippians 4:6–7
The promise: His peace will guard your heart and mind.
6. Remember That Jesus Gives Peace the World Cannot
When your thoughts are chaotic:
“My peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
— John 14:27
His peace is stronger than your thoughts.
7. Let the Holy Spirit Renew Your Mind
You don’t fight your thoughts alone:
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
— Romans 12:2
God changes the way you think when you surrender it to Him.
