Why Is It So Hard to Ask for Help? πŸ’™

Why is it so hard for so many of us to ask for help when we truly need it?

For a lot of us—especially those raised in the South—it’s something passed down through generations.

We were taught to “handle it ourselves,” “push through,” and “not bother anyone.”

And while being strong and independent can be good, sometimes those old ways of thinking can also create fear, shame, trauma, and emotional walls that God never intended for us to carry.

The truth is—it is okay to ask for help. πŸ™

I’m not judging anyone on this because I have struggled with it too.

For a long time, I felt like if I asked for help, people would look down on me, think less of me, or judge me.

But God has really been showing me something important:

We were never meant to carry everything alone.

The Bible tells us to ask, seek, and knock.

It also tells us to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Well, if we would help someone else we love, why are we so hard on ourselves when we need help too?

Sometimes asking for help is not weakness—it’s wisdom.

Sometimes it takes more strength to say “I need help” than it does to pretend everything is okay.

And help can look different for everyone.

It may mean asking for prayer.

It may mean asking for emotional support.

It may mean asking for financial help during a hard season.

It may mean talking to someone when depression or grief gets heavy.

There is nothing wrong with needing people.

God created us for community, encouragement, and love.

The enemy wants people isolated and ashamed, but God wants us healed, supported, and walking together in faith.

I’m learning that asking for help does not make you less valuable.

And I’m also learning to stop speaking negatively about myself.

We have to stop putting ourselves down and start seeing ourselves the way God sees us.

Loved.

Worthy.

Important.

And deserving of care too. πŸ’™

So if you’re struggling today, please hear this:

It is okay to ask for help.

It is okay to need support.

And it is okay to let people love and help you through hard seasons.

πŸ’™ “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

Have a blessed and peaceful day πŸ™πŸ’•
