Keeping It Real: Wisdom, Faith, and Living With Chronic Illness

πŸ’™ Keeping It Real: Wisdom, Faith, and Living With Chronic Illness πŸ’™

As we continue this journey of keeping it real, I want to add a Biblical twist to today's post and talk about something we all need more of—wisdom.

The Bible has a lot to say about wisdom, and when you live with Type 1 Diabetes, hypothyroidism, or any other health condition, wisdom becomes a very important part of everyday life.

Every day I have to make decisions about what I eat, when I eat, how much insulin I need, how much activity I can do, when I need to rest, and when I need to push through. Some days are easier than others, and some days it feels like I am constantly making adjustments.

That is why I do not just rely on my own understanding—I seek God's wisdom too.

The Bible tells us in James 1:5:

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

What a blessing that is! We do not have to figure everything out on our own. We can go straight to the Lord and ask Him for wisdom.

Wisdom is more than knowledge.

Knowledge tells us what something is.

Wisdom helps us know what to do with that knowledge.

I can read books, talk to doctors, learn about diabetes, and study nutrition, but I also need wisdom to apply those things to my own life.

The book of Proverbs talks about wisdom over and over again. Proverbs 3:13 says:

"Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding."

I have found that wisdom helps us in every area of life:

πŸ’™ Wisdom helps us make healthier choices.

πŸ’™ Wisdom helps us know when to rest.

πŸ’™ Wisdom helps us recognize when we need help.

πŸ’™ Wisdom helps us manage our emotions during grief and difficult seasons.

πŸ’™ Wisdom helps us listen to godly advice while still paying attention to what our own bodies need.

Living with chronic illness can sometimes feel overwhelming, but wisdom helps us take things one step at a time.

I have learned that God often gives us wisdom through His Word, prayer, doctors, counselors, friends, and even through the experiences we walk through ourselves.

Some of life's greatest lessons come from the struggles we never would have chosen.

As someone who has lived with Type 1 Diabetes for many years, I can tell you that experience has taught me a lot. But even after all these years, I am still learning, still growing, and still asking God for wisdom every day.

The older I get, the more I realize that I do not have all the answers—and that is okay.

God does.

So today, if you are facing health challenges, grief, depression, financial struggles, or anything else, do not be afraid to ask God for wisdom.

He promises to give it.

And when God gives wisdom, He gives exactly what we need for the season we are in.

πŸ’™ "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." — Proverbs 3:5-6

Have a blessed and wonderful day, keep learning, keep growing, and most importantly, keep seeking the wisdom that comes from the Lord. πŸ™πŸ’•
